Ken Ortiz was previously the administrator of business services in the Secretary of State’s Office, where he served from 2011 through 2018. As administrator, he was directly responsible for the Business Services Division, which includes business-related filings for corporations, LLCs, partnerships and more. He led the transition of the corporations bureau from the Public Regulation Commission to the Secretary of State’s Office. He was chief of staff in that office for five years, ending in 2016. Ortiz was Secretary of the Workforce Solutions Department from 2009 to 2010 and was deputy secretary in the same cabinet before that. In his lengthy state government career, he also served as the division director of the Motor Vehicle Division; and as program manager and senior tax auditor within the Taxation and Revenue Department. He has a bachelor of business administration degree from New Mexico State University.
