LEXINGTON, KY Thursday, October 3 — Five exemplary initiatives were chosen as recipients for the National Association of State Chief Administrator (NASCA) 2019 Innovation in State Government Awards to recognize state administration department programs that exemplify best practices.
Recipients were announced at NASCA’s Award Ceremony held at the Institute on Management and Leadership in Oklahoma City. This marks the 5th consecutive year NASCA has honored outstanding achievements in the public sector through the awards program. Recipients were selected by the NASCA Awards Committee.
The 2019 Award Recipients are:
Category of General Services:
State of California, E-Signature for Acquisition
Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Energy Supply Procurement Process
Category of Infrastructure:
Commonwealth of Virginia, Information Technology Infrastructure Sourcing Program (ITISP)
Category of Financial Management:
State of Michigan, Circumventing Risk with Contract Management
Category of Personnel:
State of Illinois, Department of Central Management Services Hiring Optimization Initiative
“The selected initiatives represent states focused on providing a legacy of excellence in government operations. These approaches are a compelling model for driving change in state government so agencies can focus on providing the best services to citizens,” said Sarah Razor, executive director of the National Association of State Chief Administrators.
The NASCA Innovation in State Government Awards are the premier awards program in recognizing state government operational innovations and leadership. The nominations are reviewed by experienced state chief administrators and subject matter experts from the private sector based on innovation, ability to transfer or replicate the initiative to other state and local governments, and efficiencies created. NASCA recognized the 2018 award winners at the Institute on Management and Leadership, a premier and engaging two-day executive education program led by the Leadership for a Networked World at Harvard University.
