NASCA Recognizes 2023 Innovation in State Government Award Recipients 

Three exemplary initiatives were chosen as recipients for the National Association of State Chief Administrators’ (NASCA) 2023 Innovation in State Government Award to recognize state administrative department programs that exemplify best practices in operations and leadership. 

Recipients were announced at NASCA’s Award Ceremony held on September 19th during 2023 Institute in Indianapolis, Indiana.   

This marks the ninth consecutive year NASCA has honored outstanding achievements in the public sector through the awards program. The nominations are reviewed by experienced state Chief Administrators and subject-matter experts from the private sector based on innovation, ability to transfer or replicate the initiatives to other states and local governments, and efficiencies created. 

The 2023 Award Recipients are: 

  • Customer Service and Experience 

    • State of Illinois: Illinois State Agency Surplus Program (ILSASP) 

  • Transformation Award  

    • State of Oklahoma: Customer Service Center Transformation 

  • Employee Engagement and Experience Award 

    • State of Florida: Innovation Through Cross-Boundary Collaboration 

The Innovation in State government awards recognize programs and initiatives within each state that score highly on the following three criteria: innovation of project goals/objectives, strategy/tactics used, and success metrics/outcomes and efficiencies achieved.
